Attendance Guidelines
Office Hours: 7:15am - 3:30pm
When a student is absent: |

|
|

|
Call or email as soon as possible with our student's name or ID number, grade and reason for their absence |
|
||||||||||||
|
Information received before 10:30am may cancel the computer calls and emails |
|
||||||||||||
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
||||
When you want to check a student out: |
|
|
|
|
|
|
||||||||
|
Written permission is mandatory FOR ALL STUDENTS before dismissals can be sent to the classroom and before they can sign out |
|||||||||||||
|
Parent emails and faxes are acceptable as permission to leave campus notes |
|
||||||||||||
|
Parents do not have to be present when the student signs out as long as a note/email/fax has been received |
|||||||||||||
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
||||
when a student returns to campus: |
|
|
|
|
|
|
||||||||
|
Turn in any health related notes from the practitioner when they sign in or drop it off the next day |
|
||||||||||||
|
Parents do not have to be present when the student signs in if they return the same day |
|
||||||||||||
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
||||
Notes: |
Must be turned in within 2 school days |
|
|
|
|
|
||||||||
|
They will be accepted afterwards and a notation made but the computer will not be changed |
|
||||||||||||
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
||||
Attendance in real time: |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|

|
Check with MHS front office to receive your user and login information to Skyward Family Access for attendance and more |

|
||||
Testing: |
Students are not released early from any testing for any reason even if the student has completed the exam |
|||||||||||||
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
||||
Attendance is a database that is looked at differently for the following categories: |
|
|||||||||||||
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
||||
Excessive excused absences: |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|||||||
|
Letters will begin to be generated when a student is absent from any class 3 times or misses 3 or more classes the same day |
|||||||||||||
|
and the reason for the absence is excused |
|
|
|
|
|||||||||
|
Doctor notes will offset this type of absence |
|
|
|
|
|||||||||
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
||||
Unexcused absences: |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
||||||
|
Letters will begin to be generated when a student is absent from any class 3 times or misses 3 or more classes the same day and the reason |
|||||||||||||
|
is unexcused and/or the school has not heard from the parents as to why the student is missing from one or more classes. |
|||||||||||||
|
After 2 letters a conference will need to be held with the principal |
|
|
|||||||||||
|
Additional unexcused absences can result in court summons and fines for students and parents |
|
||||||||||||
|
Doctor notes will offset this type of absence in regards to legal truancy |
|
||||||||||||
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
||||
Loss of Credit: |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|||||
|
Students are required to be in class 90% of the time the class is taught per Texas State law |
|
||||||||||||
|
Almost all absences count towards this total of 9 allowed absences |
|
||||||||||||
|
When a student misses the 10th time in a class they must speak with their principal regarding making up that time |
|||||||||||||
|
Doctor notes will NOT offset this type of absence |
