Eligibility:
The following process determines eligibility for NHS:
A. Juniors who have a 5.900 GPA based on five semesters are eligible
B. The names of the students who submitted an application on time are given to administration, faculty and staff for screening.
C. The Faculty Council, made up five teachers from various subject areas, has the final say on all aspects of membership. Insubordination, truancy, cheating, drinking, drugs, or major breeches of the Discipline Management Plan will make a student ineligible for membership and may be cause for immediate dismissal subject to review.
Community Service Requirements:
Documentation of twenty (25) service hours is due by the last day of the 5th six weeks of a member's senior year.
Recognition:
All students who maintain at least a 5.900 GPA on the final class rank at the end of the first semester of the senior year, complete 25 service hours, and are not involved in an infraction of the MHS Code of Conduct will receive recognition at the end of the school year.
1. A gold and blue NHS tassel to wear on your graduation cap in place of the red tassel at the graduation ceremony.
2. A "National Honor Society" stamp will be placed on your transcript after graduation.
