The World Affairs Council of Houston sponsors the Academic WorldQuest Challenge.Memorial High School will send a team of ten students to compete in the fun and fast-paced test of knowledge of international affairs. The game is played in four rounds of 20 questions each. Questions come from current international events, geography, economics, world cultures, and global politics.  The 2012 competition is held March 8.

Schedule
3:30 p.m. Registration open, sandwiches on the tables for students and adults observers
4:00 p.m. Introductions and rules read by hosts
4:15 p.m. Game begins

Round 1 – Africa/The Americas
Round 2 – Europe/Russia
Round 3 – Central Asia/Middle East
Round 4 – Asia/The Pacific
Sudden death tie‐breaker round will be played if necessary
The game will conclude at approximately 6:00 p.m.
 

The winning team can send four students and one escort to the national AWQ competition in Washington, DC. The Council will pay the costs of airfare, hotel, and most meals.

2013 Results:  Team 1: 2nd place in round 1, 2nd place in round 2, 2nd place in round 4, 3rd place overall.
