MHS Recognized by U.S. News as top ranked high school

Just this week, the U.S. News and memorial high school World Report Best High Schools Ranking 2012 came out. More than 400 High Schools in Texas made the rankings (there are 1,842 high schools in Texas). To be eligible for state ranking, a school must have been awarded a national gold or silver medal. Memorial High School ranks #20 in the state and #239 nationally. Nearly 22,000 public high schools we evaluated. Major indicators used for the evaluation were the areas of math, science, reading, and college readiness.

MHS Yearbook rated one of state's top reads!

The Memorial High School annual yearbook was recently awarded the Bronze Star from the Interscholastic League

Press Conference (ILPC).

This award puts the yearbook, called Reata, in the top 10 percent of such publications in Texas; only 33 yearbooks statewide merited such a ranking from the ILPC.

A panel of judges picked the Star-rated yearbooks based on superior design, photography, writing and coverage of
student interest. The yearbook award was presented at the ILPC state convention on the campus of the University
of Texas at Austin in early April.

MHS Recognized by NCEA for Achievement in
all areas

The NCEA (formerly Just For the Kids) recognized Memorial High School in ALL AREAS for outstanding

achievement in their January 27 press release.  Less than 1% of public schools in Texas (elementary,

middle and high combined) earned the distinction of acknowledgement in all areas.

Only six comprehensive high schools (including Memorial HS Spring Branch ISD) in

Texas earned the recognition in all subjects.

2010 MHS AP students set all-time school record!

The College Board annually recognizes students who performed well on the exams of their Advanced Placement Program.  Memorial High School students’ scores in May 2010 set an all-time school record.  Two hundred eighty (280) of our six hundred seventy (670) students who sat for AP Exams received Scholar Recognition.   That’s an amazing forty-two percent (42%)!  More specific information can be found here.

The MTV show MADE visits Memorial High School

The MTV show, MADE, looks for teenagers desiring to accomplish a goal.  Approximately 30 MHS students auditioned for the show last spring.  Once a student is selected, MTV sends a Producer / Cameraman to video the student and his/her progress.  Some of this videoing takes place at the school and much of it takes place after school hours as the student works towards his / her goals.   At this time we have a student who has been selected. As a result, an MTV representative will be on our campus over the coming weeks.  We are carefully monitoring to assure that we comply with all parental consent forms in relation to media taping and interviews.
