About Me .  .  .

Welcome Freshmen to Memorial High School! I have had the opportunity to teach at Memorial High School for almost 20 years. I believe that MHS is the finest comprehensive public high school in Houston, and one of the best in the United States. During my tenure here, I have taught mathematics, English, and world geography. I was born, raised, and educated in western Pennsylvania (Clarion University), and I earned a Bachelor of Science in Geography, with an emphasis in Urban Geography and Planning. I have also done graduate work in Houston at the University of St. Thomas. Before becoming a teacher, I worked primarily as a graphic designer for corporations such as American General and Gulf Publishing. I also did freelance design work for various advertsing agencies and companies. As an educator, I have been able to travel to Mexico, Venezuela, Chile, Canada, Germany, Austria, the United Kingdom, and South Korea. My most recent trip was this summer to the U.K. to visit London during the 2012 Olympics. I also went to the city of York and the Isle of Wight. I encourage my students to travel and learn about the amazing diversity of the world. I also hope you will share your global experiences and insights. We can all learn so much from each other and I will try to foster an atmosphere of openess in order for this to occur in the classroom. As always, I am excited to begin a new year in PreAP World Geography at MHS!
