About Me

As Social Studies department chairperson, this is my nineteen year as a public educator.  Eighteen of those years has been spend as an Advanced Placement teacher for most Social Studies curriculums.  I am a graduate of Louisiana State University, with a Bachelors of Arts and a Masters of Education.  I began my career in Tulsa Oklahoma, where I was awarded Tulsa Teacher of the Year and was finalists for Oklahoma Teacher of the Year 2000.  Prior to my educational career, I served in the United States Marine Corps.  But my greatest honor is to have the privilege of working with the best faculty and student body in Texas, which is here at Memorial High School.

Advanced Placement Economics

Minimize

The purpose of this course is to give you a thorough understanding of the principles of economics that apply to an economic system as a whole.  Such a course places particular emphasis on the study of national income and price-level determination, and also develops students’ familiarity with economic performance measures, the financial sector, stabilization policies, economic growth, and international economics.

A unit schedule will be provided at the beginning of each new content area. It will list all daily work, reading assignments, quizzes, and test.  Students are responsible for keeping up with reading assignments and being aware of, and ready for, quizzes and tests.

Make-Ups

Minimize

Students who miss class must make up the work.  Students will receive credit for make-up work except in the case of a documented truancy (UT in SASI).

It is the student’s responsibility to make arrangements with Mr. Walton for make-up work prior to or immediately upon returning to class.

Make-up work, especially test, may be of an alternate version to more accurately measure what the student has learned.

Students who have preapproved absences are expected to notify Mr. Walton of the classes they will miss in advance and request assignments.  The work is due at the first class meeting following return to school.

All make-up work from the prior grading period must be completed and a grade assigned before the next grading report (progress report or report card).

Whether a student is absent one or five days, make-up assignments and test must be completed.  Make-up assignments for absences will include the following schedule (unless prior approval is received):

1st day absence ……..school calendar day following return to class

2nd day absence……...2 school calendar days after return to class

3rd day absence………3 school calendar days after return to class

Students will be required to make-up test and quizzes if their due dates were announced prior to the absence (unless new learning objectives were covered during the absence).

Student absent for school activities should be prepared for class when they return and be prepared to complete work missed while absent from class.
