Dear Mustangs:
We are excited to be your Booster Club Presidents and proud to a part of the legacy of success at Memorial High School. MHS has established a great reputation both academically and athletically due to the strong work ethic of our administration, teachers, coaches, students and student athletes. It is the collaborative effort of these groups along with the financial support and generous volunteer efforts of the parents that make Memorial High School not only a positive place to grow and develop but also a successful academic and athletic environment for all students.
We are blessed to have many friends volunteer to assist the Booster Club this year. Attached is a list of the Booster Club Board and VPs. These parents have generously volunteered their time and talents to continue the tradition of excellence at MHS. Each one of these positions requires the dedication of parent volunteers to make these events a success for our MHS students. We ask that all parents consider helping when asked, or if you are interested in getting more involved, a place to serve is always available. Thank you in advance for stepping up and helping us make 2012 the biggest and best year for the MHS Booster Club.
Through the generous support of the parents, as well as the leadership of many parents, 2011 was another successful year for the Booster Club and all MHS students. Specifically, thank you to the following parents for volunteering to chair last year’s major fundraising events: Road House Gala-Rob and Cathy Derrick, Lil and Bobby Newman and Danette and David Scheffler; Golf Tournament-Georgia and Jeff Pennington and Allison and Frank Doyle. As a result of their efforts along with the time and energy of all the volunteers, the Booster Club has been able to contribute to many causes this year, including the following student activities.
Greenback fund: $13,000 and helped fund
new Markette lockers;
Cheerleaders: new mascot uniforms;
Tennis: new covers for spectator bleachers;
Lacrosse, Soccer, Football and Baseball:
entrance to Mustang Park fields;
All sports: resurfacing for the “Hill”;
Basketball: new software, I-Pads and
shooting machines;
Golf: new rain gear and umbrellas;
Swimming, Diving and Polo: new suits,
warm ups, bags, caps and goals;
Track: new hurdles, equipment and poles;
Baseball: brick wall for new stadium;
Lacrosse: fees and field rentals;
Soccer: new uniforms and equipment;
Softball: new hitting cages and uniforms;
Trainers: uniforms, Power reflex rehabilitation machine;
Volleyball: new uniforms and I-Pads.
We are blessed to have Pamela and Chris Walker volunteer to chair the 2012 Booster Club Gala and Ray Driver, with the support of Vincent Giammalva, Dan Boyle and Terrell Palmer chairing the 2012 MHS Booster Club Golf Tournament. The goal of the Booster Club is to exceed all donations from both of the major fundraisers, making 2012, Memorial High’s 50th anniversary, a year of celebration and achievement.
Thank you to all who joined the MHS Booster Club in 2011, making it a record-breaking year for membership. Congratulations to Girls Lacrosse for a 100% membership in the Booster Club. For this accomplishment, Girls Lacrosse will receive an additional $500. In addition, congratulations to the following activities for reaching a 75% membership, as each will receive $250; Girls Cross Country, Boys and Girls Tennis and Volleyball.
Finally, all successful enterprises require outstanding leadership. All of us at the Booster Club want to recognize the outstanding efforts of the outgoing Presidents - Danny and Christie Stewart. Their organization, hard work and dedication paid off in what was one of the most successful years in the history of the MHS Booster Club. We would also like to thank all who worked as officers and volunteers to support the many activities in 2011 and all who have volunteered for this year. We are privileged to be a part of such a great group of dedicated parents.
We look forward to seeing you at one of many events this spring and the continued success of all student activities at MHS in 2012. Go Mustangs!
